Spain have beaten Turkey 1-0 thanks to a solitary goal from Barça central defender Gerard Piqué in his first competitive game with the national team.
Xavi and Piqué played the 90 minutes in Spain’s 1-0 win over Turkey in the Santiago Bernabeu. Piqué scored in the 59th minute after Xavi centred from a free knick and the Catalan central defender seized on a Sergio Ramos shot to fire home at close range in true goal poacher’s style.
The three points consolidate Spain’s position at the top of Group 5.
